There were, coincidentally, 24 compartments, which would take us through Christmas Eve. It was quite a fun treasure hunt finding small Christmasy knickknacks that were just right the size for the cubbyholes.
Each trinket is concealed within a square of red or green tissue paper until it is "opened" on the appropriate day. The fat plaid ribbon has adorned the box for years. I suppose I could change it up, but my kids might rebel at the thought of altering our traditional holiday decor.
There it is. A snapshot of Christmas at our house. Happy Holidays!

What a great idea - I love how it turned out! I am thinking you have had this for awhile and I can just imagine your kids have loved it!
That is so darling!!!!
Very clever.
I love the vintage look. For some reason CocaCola is Christmas. I remember the commercials that they would have at Christmas and I loved them, so to me, this advent calendar is PERFECT!
Oh. My. Gosh. One of my sole purposes in life is to find a vintage coca cola box. Goodwill, don't let me down!
What a cute idea...unlike any others that I have ever seen. Love it!
Love this! What a great idea!
First of all I love that crate -- It's perfect....and to make it into an advent calendar -- genius!
This is just about as clever and resourceful as it gets. So cute!
=)
My mom made an advent calendar out of a coke crate when my brother and I were little and know my kids use the same one. It is so nice to see the tradition passed down.
This is so cute! I agree with you about having a fascination with advent calendars, and this is such a cute way of doing it! Love love love. :)
I really really LOVE this! How fun! P.S. I'm jealous of that crate!

I love how you keep things forEVER. If I didn't know better I'd think you were a hoarder but I remember your home and it was always immaculate. I love this little advent and it's funny how our kids dictate what stays around.
This is so great! I collect soda crates so I have plenty to choose from. Only 13 days left but its never to late to start! Thanks so much!
