Do they make those holes in your trees? We have woodpeckers that like to peck at our gutters and chimney cover. It sounds like a jack hammer. Luckily, I think, they don't touch our trees. They are pretty birds to be sure though.
I just read Rachel's post before yours and couldn't help but see the correlation between them both!! How exciting for them but how much you must miss them!! Hope all is well with you guys! Love, Bryce and Heather
@Miko's Girl: I was able to sneak in very close--within a few feet. The hole is about eye level and right next to the sidewalk. @Bryce and Heather: You are right! My subconscious must have been talking.

Awe, you had baby woodpeckers?? How cool, now they're off and pecking on someone else's tree.
They'll probably come back to have babies of their own someday!
A wonderful photo Julie !!! I'm a fan of woodpeckers :)
What a great picture! (A neat experience, too)
Love the contrast of the bird's head to the birch bark. Did you use zoom or were you allowed to sneak in close?
You got a great capture of him! New follower and looking forward to exploring!

Ahhh, so sweet! I know what you mean, we have had a pair of bright yellow birds with a nest here on the house and we are missing them too! :D
Great picture!
So, so cute. I love birds.
How nice it must have been to have then so close. Maybe they'll come again next year.

Oh my gosh, that is such an amazing photo. I love everything about it and that little birdie is adorable!
Love the colors on the bird. You are so good at photography.
What a great photo. We love to bird watch in our yard.
Sweet. It is sad to see them fly away. My hummingbirds leave the nest but stay around the yard and then come back every year.
What a great image! Nice capture!
What a beautiful picture :)
I bet that was so awesome to watch them grow up!
Oh my goodness, Julie. This is amazing. I love these birds. They are quite elusive around here. :)
